From eBay this lunchtime - I had just clicked on 'militaria' sub category for a general browse before typing in specific search terms... ...when I saw, with just 8 mins to go, a tatty "leather jurkin(sic)" for staring price of 0.99p, 1 bid. One last seconds snipe bid later, I'd got myself a WW2 British leather jerkin in need of some love for £2.37 (£6.87 including postage)!!!

Haha, but no seriously; I just constantly keep my eye out and never turn down a bargain even if I wasn't specifically looking for it or if I don't need it (yet!). Lots of years hard training in the antique shops, collectors markets and carboot sales of my youth. I think the miss-spelling helped it go un-noticed by most potential bidders.
I received it yesterday and, as I said before, needs some love. Firstly I'm going to impregnate as much of it's poor dry outer with clear soft dubbin (gentle heating to help it soak in), then I'm going to repair the large burn/wear hole in the lower corner of the front right panel with some new replacement leather. Next will be renewing/resewing all of the old split seams, then add a reproduction label inside (currently missing it), and finally give it a wash (and then a redubbin when nearly dry). Looks like an early one due to the panels of leather it's made up from being nice large pieces, with hardly any "patchwork" of smaller pieces required in it's construction (only the front left panel has the very top of the shoulder as an additional panel). Hopefully it's now in good hands, unless I really spaff something up...
I've already got a nice 1941 dated example which is made up entirely of large panels and it's in brilliant condition - so once it's done, this'll be the one I'll feel happy using for events.

Several things recently! A beautiful custom shoot and scoot No4, tan windproof, SS Kharkov parka (which happens to be the warmest thing ever!), and a shed load of German kit from here which is still to arrive

Just got a really nice Fallschirmjager gas mask bag for toting around grenades and ammo in game and ordered a load more parts for 2 more MP40 conversions and upgrades. Just need to replace the missing insignia on my fliegerbluse and jump smock and pick up some new y-straps and that's my Fallschirmjager kit 100% complete and accurate!

How long did the delivery take once it was posted? I should have a package coming from Panther Store within the next few weeks.
They have a number of shirts in stock so it's different to the BD, so it only took a week for the shirt. However the BD took a good 6 weeks in the end but by GOD its beautiful. Like Christmas in khaki.
Also received my Italian Bandolier. In original green gray leather, super condition and all for £25 from a Gent in southern Italy. Looks really smart, definitely prefer it to the standard double pouch and neck strap, doesn't get in the way when your prone. Here's a nice pic of captain Corellis mandolin, with all troops wearing them.
Ah not too bad then, think it's the 6th week since I ordered but I've gone for the full BD, shirt and hat package, so I'm expecting an email soon.
Very nice indeed. I've seen quite a few of those bandoliers in pictures, might've been from the Greece campaign. They do look a lot more useful than the double cartridge pouches, though I quite like the look of those too.
Yer I didn't go for the package, though I should have done lol. I bought the GS cap to see what the quality was like compared to the SOF one. Then I wore it with my Epic BD and though I prefer Epic to SOF the cap just made it look shite lol. Then the BD just had to be ordered, I got a pre made size, how about yourself? The fit is just brilliant. Going to do a kit pic soon as I haven't actually done one, specially with the mk3 helmet.

I prefer the look of the epic BD to SOF's too, the cut of the SOF BD is too noticeably off.
I've gone for the premade size 13, which should be almost perfect with an inch or so of room to spare. I didn't want to chance buggering up all the measurements!
It would be good to see some kit pics, once I've sorted my Blanco and the BD has arrived I'll have to do some too, I'm also putting some early war webbing together so I'll get some pics up of that once I've got everything together.
I have to say I do like a bandolier, I sort of fell in love with them when I was obsessed with star wars when I was much younger and my love for them has followed me through the years. They have a cool factor that webbing doesn't always quite manage (except 37 patt of course).
